This is a picture of “The Sun” by Dale Chihuly taken by Adrian Pingstone in June 2005 at the “Gardens of Glass” exhibition in Kew Gardens, London, England. I found the picture at the Wikimedia Commons website. I was able to adjust the size of the picture by editing the HTML code and changing the pixel dimensions by the same factor, thus ensuring the image is not distorted.
What are your thoughts? Do you like the design. Do you have any Blog design tips?
Design Update: I added two RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Feeds to our blog: Weblogg-ed and Breaking Orbit. Weblogg-ed is an education blog led by Will Ricahrdson; Breaking Orbit is a cool National Geographic blog. While Breaking Orbit has little to do with the subject of our blog, I wanted to pay homage to the recent discoveries by NASA's Kepler telescope. We can remove the feed and replace it with an educational feed.
ReplyDeleteI also added a list to the lower left where we can add links to our favorite educational blogs. I currently know few, so it will be fun to find blogs during the course.
I also added a page counter.
This is fun! I often have Thursdays off --- thus the time to go blog bonkers.
Yea! Great job, group. I am really happy to see that you have integrated RSS feeds.
ReplyDeleteAdded Feed the Fish gadget on the left side. Silly yet also eye-catching and FUN! Anyone think it is a bad idea? The novelty of all of this is pretty addictive...
ReplyDeleteI love the Feed the Fish gadget and I figured out how to do the same on our group's page. I really like your design Krista. It's very clean and stream-lined. Easy on the eyes! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteI think the BLOG design is awesome. It is very soothing on the eyes. The blue color is very similar to the wall color in my home. I love the widgets and information that is available through the feeds. I especially love the pic in this post of the SUN. It amazes me each time I see something so original. Awesome Job Group! Thanks Krista for all your hard work...it looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you like the overall design Shaun! RE: the Sun...I was turned on to Dale Chihuly in 2005. I was in Oklahoma City for a diving camp and I spent my one afternoon off work at the local art museum. Chihuly's glass pieces were stunning and I have followed his work since. If you get the chance to see his work in person, I would take it!
